Attritable Drone Weapon Systems & The Future of Modern Warfare
“War will no longer rely on billion-dollar jets, but on swards of cheap, smart drones.” It is no longer a what-if. It is the current reality.
In this video, you’ll hear why the modern battlefield is changing fast—and how startups are stepping in where the old defense giants can’t keep up. We’re talking about super rapid force projection, attritable systems like low-cost drones, and a huge shift in how wars will be fought in the years ahead.
Even Elon Musk has weighed in, saying the future won’t be led by the F-35, but by billions of drones. That means lower costs, fast production, and smarter navigation systems. And that’s where the biggest opportunities are right now.
You’ll also learn how VC firms like Andreessen Horowitz are getting behind this movement—and why startups like Anduril are rewriting the rules. They’re not waiting around for long contracts and red tape. They’re building quick, lean, and powerful tech that meets today’s defense needs head-on.
If you want a glimpse into where defense tech is heading—and which companies are built to lead—this is a conversation you won’t want to miss. Watch this video to see how the future of defense is already unfolding.

0:00 Summary
Let me talk about sort of the two submarkets that are very meaningful to us right now.
0:10 Attritable Weapons System
We’ve talked about attritable weapons systems like drones. Even Elon Musk, you know, a very smart guy, has said that the future wars will not be fought with the F-35. They’re going to be fought with billions of drones and that is absolutely what we’re geared for.
0:26 Advanced Technology Capabilities
So if you’re going to have billions of drones, you’ve got to have a pretty inexpensive navigation system on top of that drone, and in fact, the overall cost for that drone has to be such that if you send a hundred out in battle and only 50 of them come back, that the cost isn’t a big concern. And so we’re positioned superbly for that shift in the market.
In terms of where the smart venture capital money is, Andreessen Horowitz is probably the best and most engaged company in both commercial and defense applications of these solutions. We’re talking about one of their big focuses is the modern battlefield, and they talk about the concept of super rapid force projection and the fact that we can use not only technology, but cost and supply chain as a competitive advantage. So if there’s a super cost-effective solution out there that supports this new battlefield rapid force projection model, then that’s the one that’s going to dominate in this space.
1:33 Startup Companies to Watch
In terms of how that’s reflected in who the hot startups are; take a company like Anduril. Anduril’s intent is to change the game on all of the traditional global systems integrators. The Raytheon’s, the Northup Grumman’s of the world who have tended not to be very nimble, not very agile, more about big cost plus contracts and Anduril is about responding to that new battlefield strategy and creating something where new solutions can be developed quickly, designed quickly, built quickly that can be deployed at massive scale for this increasingly fluid modern attack surface and attack environment.
So again, it’s not just us saying these things. It’s some very, very smart people in the leadership positions of government, the venture capital world, and in the startup world as well. We just happen to have the perfect timing to fit perfectly into those strategies.
