Tactical Grade IMU at a Fraction of the Cost (for Defense)

In a world where precision meets affordability, Inertial Sense is changing the game. In this video, Tom Bennett, CEO of Inertial Sense, shares the company’s bold vision from their home in Provo, Utah, nestled at the base of the Timpanogos Mountains.

For over a decade, Inertial Sense has pursued one mission—to deliver tactical-grade navigation systems at a fraction of the traditional cost. That focus has led to a major breakthrough, marking a turning point not only for the company but for the entire navigation industry.

Tom explains how Inertial Sense is uniquely positioned to serve both commercial innovators and defense leaders, offering high-precision navigation that was once out of reach. From advanced drones and autonomous systems to critical defense applications, their technology enables what others can’t—small, smart, affordable, and scalable solutions built for today’s challenges.

When the Department of Defense announced the Replicator Initiative, it confirmed what Inertial Sense had been building toward all along—the future of precision lies in making it accessible.

Watch now as Tom Bennett reveals how Inertial Sense is redefining what’s possible for industries that demand accuracy, reliability, and performance—without the premium price tag.

My name is Tom Bennett. I am the CEO of Inertial Sense. We’re located here in beautiful Provo, Utah at the foot of the Timpanogos Mountains. The vision of the company has always been to deliver precision navigation at the lowest possible cost.

0:22 We Deliver!

And over our 10-year journey, has brought ourselves to, what I consider to be the most significant inflection point in the company and in the market, and that’s delivering tactical-grade navigation systems at a fraction of the cost of what anybody else can do.

0:40 IS Core Value

And so that’s really, that is our core value proposition. And it’s delivering tactical-grade at a fraction of the cost that anyone else can, that unlocks applications for both commercial and defense customers.

0:55 Changing With the Market

But if I had to pick one major inflection point, when Under-Secretary Hicks came out and talked about the replicator initiative in the Department of Defense, that everything now has to be small, smart, cheap, and many. That was really the most solid indication that the market was moving in a new direction. It’s meaningful to commercial customers who simply want to get better navigation at a lower cost, to literally take products and projects off the shelf that they hadn’t been able to execute before at the price performance level.

But it’s even more meaning for defense customers who are now dealing with an entirely different attack surface; Modern warfare with things like low-cost attitudable drones, loitering munitions, wanting to get the most sophisticated warfighter aiming and engagement systems. These are the new constraints of modern warfare, and for that, they need a product like Inertial Sense.
